Bio (So far): Carved in the frozen ridges of the north, Heimskr was one of the sources of wealth of Rune Midgard despite not belonging to the civilized lands of the south. The wealth of Heimskr was not in gold or silver, but in heavy metals that its mines produced, his veins of Elunium stretched to the dark depths of the heart of the mountain and closer to the surface attached to the ceiling of the numerous tunnels excavated in rock were the thousands of geodes of Oridecon. Under unbearable cold and biting winds the purest alloys were forged, a delicate process involved the refinement of the alloys and crystals, making them more enriched and pliable in the hands of any experienced blacksmith. The enrichment Elunium and Oridecon was a very old arcane technique known only by dwarves and northerners. Such secrets and wealth over time needed to be protected from thieves or even rival nations, for this reason were created the Ulfsark, a great army which united men, women and even children able to wield a weapon of all northern tribes.
Balthus was a young officer in charge of the main lines of defense of the city and had been trained since childhood in order to defend his home from any threat. Twenty years before the incident with Satan Morroc, Heimskr was attacked by a horde of undead and dark creatures sent by the powerful necromancer Zamir and for seven days followed the Ulfsark fought bravely and without any rest or hesitation. By the end of the seventh day, exhausted, frustrated and before countless casualties the northern men still was surrounded by thousands of enemies which defiled and burned everything in their path, the fallen soldiers rose up again to serve the master of darkness and slaughter their old comrades, only Balthus and a few dozen soldiers survived clustered on the hillside of the Gray Mountain holding the line until by some miracle or favor from the gods the aid arrived. At the foot of the ridge, a few hours before the dawn a single warrior in shining armor raised his sword and unleashed all the fury of the holy legion against the dark horde, an army skilled warriors with blue capes and heavy armor with the design of a cross, very well trained to fight against the creatures of the abyss. Before noon the enemy had been defeated and the allied forces gathered with the remaining Ulfsark in the borders of the mountain village. Balthus was astonished with the ease and efficiency that those sinister creatures had been defeated by the holy warriors, the young officer approached the commander of the legion, and asked the name of the one who came to his aid in such a critical time. Michael Halig, he said, the senior crusader.
Halig, and his regiment had been sent by the ruler of Prontera, the Prime Minister in person, after Zamir who had vanished from the land of Rune Midgard and gone searching for the tool capable to craft powerful weapons of war, the treasure of Heimskr used in enrichment of the ores, the Artisan, a mystic forge all crafted in marble and gneiss. It was never possible to defeat Zamir because he was a very powerful and had many followers, his intention was to obtain the Artisan and use it to build an army capable of launch an offensive over Rune Midgard and its allied nations. After learning about this threat, the elders who led the northern tribes decided to give the Artisan in the hands of those who had been shown to have the ability needed to protect it, the order of the Crusaders. Balthus decided to join the order not only to keep an eye on the legacy of his people, but also to become a holy warrior someday, and then along with the Artisan, he came to the Capital of Rune Midgard the great city of Prontera. The years passed and the young officer proved himself a talented warrior, he had a natural ability to wield a spear and an admirable agility in combat which led him to become a powerful Paladin in a very short time.
Rumors of the return of the wizard Zamir returned to the land of Midgard, some said he had been defeated at the slopes of Gray Mountain others that he was again gathering followers and reorganizing his dark hosts, one way or another this was a risk that the order of the Crusaders could not take and soon began a hunt the wicked necromancer, by the time he knew about these rumors the Paladin Balthus asked to be the one responsible of finding out his whereabouts, taking some crusaders and among them Madelyn Vallen beloved friend and the only one who possessed his full confidence. A few weeks after the departure, the clues led the group of warriors to the desert ruins of Morroc where they found their target, despite all the years that have passed the evil wizard had not aged, he was wearing clothes typical of the desert and possessed a penetrating gaze as it was able to pass through the flesh of their enemies. The battle was bloody and at the same time invigorating at to Balthus, who finally had a chance to take his revenge from that filthy creature that had devastated his home. Before the end of the day the little number of followers that Zamir had gathered were killed and his head was in the hands Paladin.
The success of this task not only assured Balthus some inner peace but the recommendation for the elite unit of the King Schimitz Von Walter as well. During his award he received his second name, Vero which means "the one whose words speak the truth" according to the old code Glast Heim and as a first mission, Balthus Vero, was assigned to be part of a great scientific expedition organized by the allied nations of Midgard and Schwarzwald, accompanied by the Crusader Madelyn Vallen, the wizard Thorygg Vittenberg and a few well-trained knights. The purpose of the expedition was to recover a smaller version of the reactor Ymir lost in the ruins of Jupteros, one of the few pieces that the people Schwarzwald made a point of rescue. The journey to the heart of the ancient capital of the machines was going well until the group reached the reactor chamber, Ymir was intact, just as the ancient inhabitants left after the uprising, Thorygg and his group of scholars began to disassemble the colossal machine to take only your magical pulsing core to Juno. When the entire reactor was disassembled by the technicians, below its base was a secret chamber very well protected and all coated in lead, before it was opened by the scholars eager to know what was inside which become the ruin of all the people on site for they accidentally activated the security system of the station locking all exits and releasing a deadly gas killing all the technicians and some of the knights.
Thorygg managed to escape blowing up one of the doors with a fireball and ran to the top level where Balthus and his men were to ask for help, but when he arrived the warriors were already waging a fierce struggle against the metal monsters who were awaken, in fact they were basically trying to survive that massacre, the wizard saw that disaster and quickly returned to the reactor chamber and collected its small core in a portable safe which had brought, looked once more to the secret chamber still feeling the deep desire to know its content, when he returned to the first level met the young Madelyn Vallen who tried to prevent those war machines to reach him. Madelyn led Thorygg to an exit that Balthus was found and was keeping safe until their return but unfortunately during his blistering run out of that hell Madelyn was hit and fell in the place, Thorygg desperate to keep the core safe ignored her and kept running until it finally reached Balthus and a single survivor Knight barely escaping alive. Heartbroken by the loss of his dear companion, Balthus left that the core was taken to Schwarzwald and returned to Prontera taking the blame not only for having neglected his responsibility to ensure a portion of the findings to Rune Midgard, but also for the death of his comrades. Without any defense, the Royal Guard was tried, convicted and thrown in the dungeons where he remains today.
