part 1 : By A Hell's Breath
Born in a land ruled by twin gods who were at war, Khanh-Alben was raised on the spoils of war. As he matured he learned metal craft and mining which were skills few bothered to learn. Khanh-Alben learned to peddle his wares in blessed areas where fighting was not allowed, this allowed him to trade with both the warring factions of zealots. The trade of superior arms netted more then just wealth, it earned him freedom from the war, his name mispronounced by one of the towns was Khelben so he started answering to that. His freedom to travel between the towns netted Khelben the awful knowledge that the war was caused by a 3rd god one the twin gods had long thought vanquished. Khelben took to studying arcane lore which unlocked powers not known to the local zealots. His use of those powers to destroy the war engines of both towns resulted in the anger of both towns being turned on Khelben, now dubbed the Warlock Smith. The Zealous town folk chased Khelben into a labyrinth into the heart of a volcano where the Evil God had rained fire, Using the wings of a Butterfly in a way the town folk had never witnessed before, Khelben vanished right as the dark lord had broken its chains and appeared before them. With both towns focused on the new danger Khelben built a raft and departed off the western coast of the land.
Part 2 : The Puzzled Pirate
His Departure from the lands of the two gods took Khelben upon a blighted Midnight Acapulco This small section of sea had many little towns of people who ply-ed the waters for a living. Some adventures with no homes, others business minded traders but all tried their hands at Piracy. Khelben while living among the islands had worked his way from hired hand to a captain of his own ship the "Broken Windowpane" which was home to a crew of backstabbing scoundrels that went by the name of Skull-Haven. Khelben and his Crew had many encounters with the Unwilling Dead, the ghost crew of the Dreaded ship the "Polo Diablo" and had traced the ghost ship to its home berth. It was there on that cursed isle that Khelben's crew abandoned him stealing his ship. Being a warlord on an isle of the dead was something Khelben had adjusted to. The skeletons got use to his presence and started to ignore Khelben instead of trying to kill him. Trapped on that Isle for one score Years Khelben was able to craft a sea worthy ship. Before he left isle Khelben had gotten word from some of the prisoners of the skeletons that bounty hunters from the lands of the twin gods were upon his trail. Sailing further to the west chasing the Sun Khelben fled, until the provisions of his small craft had ran out and he had resorted to gnawing on the bamboo reeds of his mast to survive.
Part 3 : Lunatics Abound....
Khelben was rescued by a nice ship in route to a town called Izlude, with his old weapons armor and tools Khelben booked passage, It was there he found an academy for those newly arrived to the shores.... it is here where his tale takes up...
